9th Grade Advice

Hey, congrats on making it past Middle School! Don’t stress that much about school right now, you just started! But here are some things you should keep in mind:

Join clubs and extracurriculars. Even though it takes a long time, it shows how well-rounded you are.
Do not take things so serious, you only get to go through high school once, try to enjoy it!
- Do not allow your friends to define who you are. Break away from them if they do not accept you for you! Popularity should never be your first priority
Do not procrastinate or slack! You should never start bad habits in the first year. It is a new beginning and it defines your future!
Create an Agenda to keep track of your activities.

Make sure you do your homework every time it is assigned! It is a lot of work, but it is extra practice! This makes you more aware of what you do and don't understand.
- Whenever you do not understand a subject, you can ask the teacher for help. This will show the teacher that you want to learn, which will benefit you in the future.

Join programs that will help you study for the Regents.
Aways review your notes from class and buy study books online.
You can find used study books of various subjects online for very cheap prices.

Make flashcards and use online resources to study.
Use class notes and make cheat sheets to study class topics.
Go to any tutoring sessions offered in your school.

Try to have fun in between focusing on grades. Putting to much focus on grades leads to high levels of stress, so it won't hurt to take a little time off when you can.
If given the opportunity, join classes that interest you, not because it will look good.
Grades do matter!!
